SOLUTIONS IN ACTION

Building on the +ONE initiative, we expand at CATTIA the Business Incubator to support startups and entrepreneurs.

Administered by Iceberg+ and founded by the Municipality of Brașov, the Business Incubator offered in 2025 concrete services for SMEs in key sectors including IT&C, renewable energy, aeronautics, and electrical engineering. Starting from 2026, the targeted sectors cover all those defined under RIS3 Centru.

Regional Impact

CATTIA's Business Incubator is designed to support early-stage SMEs from the Centru Region (Brașov, Alba, Covasna, Harghita, Mureș, Sibiu). With a focus on real business development, the incubator helps innovative companies grow locally and connect internationally.

Market Context

The regional startup ecosystem is still developing, with few structured programs dedicated to SMEs beyond the idea stage. From +ONE’s first incubation cycle - with 13 startups supported in 2025, the journey continues at CATTIA, scaling toward a new stage of growth through the Business Incubator.

Beneficiaries

Eligible applicants include legally registered Romanian SMEs that:

  • Operate in IT&C, renewable energy, aeronautics, or electrical engineering
  • Are based in one of the six Centru Region counties
  • Are in early growth stages
  • Show innovation potential and willingness to scale
  • Are aligned with the incubator’s mission and values

Stakeholder Network

The Business Incubator @ CATTIA is implemented with the support of public authorities, local and regional development agencies, academia support (University of Brașov), business support organisations, and other incubators in the region.

Partners such as EIT Community Office Romania and Enterprise Europe Network bring additional value through access to EU-wide knowledge and investor networks.
