Smart Mobility Learning: UMX Videos for Knowledge Sharing in Romania  - RO-SMART MOBILITY EDU

The Challenge

Urban mobility in Romania and broader RIS regions lacks accessible, engaging, and educational media content that explains key mobility topics such as EV infrastructure and Living Labs.

While technical solutions evolve rapidly, the public and local stakeholders often lack the context or understanding to engage with these innovations meaningfully. Bridging this knowledge gap through inclusive, multilingual, and professionally produced content was a key challenge.

The
Solution

Video-based educational series

A video-based educational series was developed under the UMX initiative of EIT Urban Mobility. The project focused on producing two professionally filmed and edited videos covering:

1. 1st video: ”How is Brasov transitioning to electric vehicle infrastructure?”
2. 2nd video: ”How to implement urban mobility projects using Living Labs?”

The process included:

  • Defining topics and selecting expert interviewees
  • Developing interview scripts and securing relevant locations in Brașov
  • Filming in two phases (May & November 2024)
  • Subtitling and inclusive language to ensure accessibility

    The
    Impact

Increased public and institutional awareness on EV infrastructure and urban innovation models in Romania

Highlighted real examples and voices from the region (e.g., Cătălin Frangulea-Pastor, Ionuț Țața)

Promoted inclusive mobility narratives, addressing accessibility, sustainability, and user diversity

Videos include subtitles for accessibility and non-native speakers
