CoBots VetMed
Driving Industry 4.0 Skills Through Collaborative Robotics in South Mediterranean
CobotsVETMed is an Erasmus+ Capacity Building project in Vocational Education and Training (VET), co-funded by the European Union.
The Problem
While much of the developed world is already benefiting from the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0), South Mediterranean countries in particular Tunisia and Algeria, stand at a crucial crossroads in their economic and industrial development.
They struggle with outdated skills, weak industry links, low digitalisation, leaving youth, mostly women unemployed and industries underserved.
Our Solution
Addressing the pressing need for sustainable industrial transformation and workforce development in Tunisia and Algeria through a modern VET Industrial Training Programme with a focus on cobot applications relevant to SMEs operating in a market where the use of automation and robotics is growing, while promoting lifelong training, digital twin and inclusive access.

The impact
CobotsVETMed will bridge the gap between traditional training methods and the evolving needs of the industrial sector by developing:
Uniting Europe and North Africa for Modern VET
The CobotsVETMed partnership brings together a complementary mix of organisations from four countries—two from the EU (Italy, Romania) and two from the Southern Mediterranean (Tunisia, Algeria)—ensuring a balanced partnership that aligns with Erasmus+ Capacity Building in VET (CBVET) priorities with expertise across technology, education, and industry.
Through close collaboration, the partners will design and implement innovative curricula and practical training environments that integrate collaborative robots (cobots) within universities and VET centres in Tunisia and Algeria, ensuring strong alignment with labour market needs and Industry 4.0 priorities.
